ASC Black Rain / Sixth Sense

ASC returns to Over/Shadow for OSH/15 Black Rain / Sixth Sense having helped cement the venerable label’s unrelenting trajectory since its earliest releases with OSH/04. James Clements previous output as ASC and his range of styles employed is of note. Not only on other contemporary bastions leading the current breaks resurgence such as Samurai Music, but even through to recent ambient soundtrack ready affairs on A Strangely Isolated Place and of course a further range on the trio of labels he runs himself: Auxiliary, and its imprints Veil and Diode.

Those however expecting introspective atmospheres here will be knocked off theirs seats as opening cut Black Rain flexes and then launches straight out the gate living up to it’s name by dropping a carpet of precision C-Beam ordinance that would make Roy Batty shed a tear. On the flip Sixth Sense channels a ’97 darkside vibe through the ASC filters to produce a heads down roller that manages to menace and envelop at the same time.
